Memler is a software aid to help you study and check vocabulary of other languages in the most interesting and convenient way. You can learn any of the word lists provided or create your own, and tell the program to quiz you every X minutes on any number of words each time.
The program’s lists are not limited to words, but you can also feed them with those full expressions that you would like to learn or check. You can either add new words (and their equivalent of your language) to any existing list or create your own lists from scratch. Among the lists offered by Memler, you will find various interesting language pairs, such as Latin-English, Finnish-Russian, English-Visayan, Spanish-German, and even Nahuatl-English! Actually, when it comes to creating new lists you can be as creative as needed, and use any pair of languages to build your own vocabularies. You will be asked to provide the original word, its translation, and a pronunciation hint (if so desired) – actually, what you are doing is building your own dictionary, which you can later use to help you with your translations. Words are also assigned to a grammatical category, so that you can learn specific word groups (adjectives, nouns, adverbs, verbs, and so on).
You can assign a number of “right answers” to your words until they can be labeled as “learned”, so that Memler can go back to them from time to time to make sure you have not forgotten them. Nearly everything of this useful vocabulary manager is customizable – not only the appearance of the interface and the lists, but also the number of words and expressions you want to be quizzed on each time, and the lapse of time between quizzes. Designed to be used while you are at something else, the program’s window will pop up at the scheduled time and will present you with a set of words for you to check.
